UCR (Unified Carrier Registration) - Required annually for all Interstate Motor Carriers, Brokers and Freight Forwarders starting in the year DOT number assigned
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Program is a vital requirement for all operators of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) involved in interstate transport.
This includes carriers who transport their own goods across state lines, as well as those transporting interstate goods even if the vehicles never leave the state.
A Commercial Motor Vehicle under the UCR program is defined as any self-propelled or towed vehicle used on highways for interstate travel that meets any of the following criteria: • Has a gross weight of 10,001 pounds or more; • Is designed to transport 11 or more passengers (including the driver); or • Is required to have Hazardous Placarding.
For the UCR, carriers are categorized based on the number of trucks they operate. Pricing is as follows:
- 0-2 trucks: $149
- 3-5 trucks: $289
- 6-20 trucks: $549
Please note that while the UCR pricing is tiered, it is essential to specify the exact number of vehicles (e.g., 1, 3, 7) when placing an order, as this number is required when we file the UCR on your behalf. Leave quantity at 1.
The UCR is required for the year in which you obtained your DOT number - even if at end of the year. Fee is not pro rata. Thereafter, the UCR must be filed by January 1 of the following year.
Place a separate order per year.
Ensure you review your order carefully before submitting, as no refunds will be issued once the UCR has been filed.
